In China’s exponentially growing dance music scene, few have the creativeexpression and true originality of this multi-talented musician. Growing up inBeijing, Dexter King is among the very first DJs/producers to break into dance music within China’s landscape. His journey started when he first beganproducing from his bedroom during his high school years. In 2009, whilestudying at University, he laid hands on his first deck. Having excelled atpiano, guitar, saxophone and drums at a very young age, his finely tuned earfor track selection and innate musical ability quickly translated into China-wide performances.

Upongraduating in 2012, Dexter began residencies at some of the most prominentvenues in China, where he opened for high profile acts such as Zedd, SteveAoki, Diplo, R3hab to name a few, and soon became known as a pioneer of EDM inthe early days of China’s dance music boom. In the following years, hishallmark appearances at major festivals in China and sell-out clubs saw himstun audiences across the country, positioning him as a new-wave tastemaker paving the way at forefront of China’s music scene. In 2015, Dexter King made history by becoming the first ever Chinese DJ to tour abroad in The Netherlands. By 2019, he has toured 200+ club shows, 60 festivals and regularly performs at major brand events for Chanel, Nike and Adidas Originals.

At the same time, his relentless pursuit of sounds and vision is characterized by an inherent talent for boundary-pushing and forward-thinking production. Establishing himself as one of the leading powerhouses of Chinese producers, Dexter King has garnered significant support of industry heavyweights from the likes of Yellow Claw, Quintino, Nicky Romero and Vicetone. After forming EDM trio MAD PANDA with fellow Chinese DJs/producers Chace and Tsunano. The groupimmediately caught the eye of Dutch electronic duo Yellow Claw and began working with Barong Family, hosting label events and contributing their compositions. This collaboration pushed Dexter’s sound into exciting new territory and he once again upped the ante by expanding his range, fusing theraw spirit of Dutch dancefloor beats and drops with the exotic charisma ofAsian melodies. His releases toppled 2M+ plays across the internet. His onpoint, innovative production work was subsequently picked up some of the notable Chinese pop artists such as Tiger Hu, Show Lo and Jeno Liu. As theirgo-to producer, Dexter has risen the ranks as an unparalleled force in the worlds of both dance and pop music.

Rolling into 2020 following a touring hiatus of nearly a year, Dexter King found new inspiration and a surge of creativity to create his latest body of music, trademarked by quintessential pop focused bangers. His influences are vast, from the legacy of Avicii, the distinct house anthems of Daft Punk, to HayaoMiyazaki’s Studio Ghibli soundtracks, he will go on pushing boundaries with consistency and quality, setting high standards for Chinese dance music andlive performances.

Asone of the first to break into China’s budding EDM culture, Dexter’s undying commitment to creativity continues to solidify his role as a leading artist in the electronic music landscape in Asia. He currently has a great deal ofsingles and groundbreaking remixes lined up for release. Continuing toforefront the EDM movement, he is highly anticipated to thrill and exhilarate audiences at festivals and tour dates at home and overseas.
