Dubstep，1998年诞生于英国伦敦南部，受新千年早期的英伦车库乐影响，由AMMUNITION PROMOTIONS命名。

Dubstep was founded in 1998 in south London, England. It was influenced by English garage music in the early 2000s and was named as AMMUNITION PROMOTIONS

从音乐理论来说，Dubstep以其黑暗色调，稀疏的节奏，和低音上的强调著称，Dubstep一开始只在当地的一些小地方传播，直到后来的2005和06年早期，由于一些网站的传播作用，才使这种类型的音乐得以保留和发展。

From the perspective of music theory, Dubstep is famous for its dark tone, sparse rhythm, and emphasis on bass. Dubstep was first spread in small local areas, and it was not until later in 2005 and early 2006 that this type of music was preserved and developed due to the spread effect of some websites.

随着Dubstep文化的生长，以及Dubstep子风格的渐增，Dubstep现场常常不像Electro House所衍生出来的EDM那样，只是随着一拍一鼓跳跃便可老少皆宜。Dubstep现场往往有着更加暴力和凶狠的玩法，其中最具代表性的就是Headbanging。
