Kyle Page的DJ生涯起始于奥运前北京后街里的廉价酒吧。十几年间他一直痴迷于探索咬牙切齿的合成器朋克、阴暗的80年代合成器音乐和复古未来之声，并与众多北京派对团体合作，如Tag Record的“独立之夜”和“黑眼线”，以及播出电台节目、制作产品与编程。他和 Edna Abigail在2016年创建了PRETTY COLD。

Kyle Page got his start DJng in the back-street dive bars of pre-Olympic Beijing. He has spent over a decade exploring his obsession with saw-tooth synthpunk, dark 80s wave, and retro-future sounds alongside Beijing party crews such as Tag Team Record's INDIE NIGHT and Black Eyeliner, as well as through broadcast radio, production and programming. He co-founded PRETTY COLD in 2016 with Edna Abigail.

什么是EBM/Industrial?

怎么解释EBM呢？

首先，别把EDM和EBM弄混了哈！

EDM是“电子舞曲”的近期叫法（2010年代），但其实这个名字指的是一种糟糕的，为12岁小孩子制作的公式化噪音，比如Skrillex, David Guetta, Top 100 DJs。

EBM呢，叫做“电子身体音乐”。虽然这个名字听上去更傻，但是音乐本身就好多了。EBM（1980年代）融合了哥特和后朋克的感觉，不过用的是合成器而不是吉他。可以去听听像DAF, Nitzer Ebb, Cabaret Voltaire这样的音乐。

那么，“Industrial工业音乐”又是什么呢？EBM和Industrial其实是同一种风格，但通常来说，Industrial更偏美式风味，更具实验性，而EBM则更偏欧洲，更倾向于club或舞曲。要了解Industrial，可以去听听Einstürzende Neubauten, KMFDM, Ministry, 和Nine Inch Nails。

EBM/Industrial最近在人气上有所复苏，激发了新的音乐流派，比如Dark Techno和Dark Disco--有时被称为Cold Wave/Dark Wave，这是针对他们的音色起的名字。

Pretty Cold团队可能是【中国最早】以EBM音乐为主题的活动系列--他们不仅会放EBM中经典的歌曲，也会放一些流行的。本周五！不要错过！

What's EBM?

Don't get EDM and EBM confused.

EDM is a recent term (2010s) for "Electronic Dance Music" but it really refers to a style of music that is horrible, formulaic noise for 12 year old kids -- stuff like Skrillex, David Guetta, Top 100 DJs, etc.

EBM is "Electronic Body Music" -- which is an even stupider term, but the music is much better. EBM (1980s) took goth and post punk vibes and used synths instead of guitars. Check out acts like DAF, Nitzer Ebb, Cabaret Voltaire.

OK, so what's "Industrial" then? EBM and Industrial are kind of the same genre, but, in general -- Industrial was more an American term, and more experimental, while EBM is more European, and more club/dance music. For industrial music, check out Einstürzende Neubauten, KMFDM, Ministry, and Nine Inch Nails.

EBM/Industrial music has seen a recent resurgence in popularity, inspiring new genres like hard techno and dark disco -- and is sometimes called Cold Wave / Dark Wave, to refer to its sonic palette.

The Pretty Cold crew are probably China's longest running event series focusing on EBM music -- they play classic to current music in these genres. Don't miss out !
