Get into the spirit! World Baijiu Day, an annual celebration of a spirit with higher production than whisky, vodka, and rum. The official date is August 9 -- the numbers 8/9 or ba/jiu sound like baijiu.

The focus is on introducing baijiu to consumers in a wide range of ways, from baijiu cocktails, infusions and liqueurs to baijiu-inspired foods like ice creams, gelatos and chocolates to more educational endeavors such as tasting flights and food pairings.

Since being founded in 2015 by Jim Boyce, World Baijiu Day has been active in 60-plus cities, from Lima to Los Angeles to London, from Stockholm to Sydney to Shenzhen and from Minsk to Minneapolis to Melbourne. And that includes the Dada bars at its clubs in Beijing, Kunming, and Shanghai.
